Studying abroad offers students an opportunity to explore a different culture, learn a new or improve a second language, and form new and rewarding relationships. Through the experience, students grow personally, academically and professionally.
Your gift in support of studying abroad will enhance a student’s academic and cultural experience, increase global and intercultural offerings and enrich and diversify the campus environment.
How will donations make an impact?
The impact of study abroad is life changing and long lived. Experiences overseas stay with students throughout their lives. Donations to assist with studying abroad provide students with an opportunity to develop appreciation for other cultures and languages, a greater awareness of themselves and the United States as well as a better understanding of the direction they want their lives to go. This is incredibly beneficial to any student regardless of major or career path.
Why are donations necessary?
Education abroad has a tremendous impact on a student’s academic journey and personal growth. The experience allows them to get outside of their comfort zone, become culturally competent, and reimagine their place in the world. To allow students to plan, it is beneficial to have access to funding that will assist with any added expenses such as passport and visa applications, flights, and intercountry travel once they are outside of the United States.

Study abroad is life changing. You will gain confidence and new perspectives by stepping out of your comfort zone. It's adventure that pushes you in ways you can't experience at home. Personally, it expanded my world view and sparked a desire to learn about different cultures and languages.
Studying abroad opened several professional opportunities that I was able to pair with my degree at Shippensburg. I was able to leverage my study abroad experience and Finance degree from Shippensburg to launch a career in international business in China.
Studying abroad is in addition to a student's normal college plan. While this addition provides immense academic, professional, and personal opportunities for students, it does require additional financial costs. A donation can help reduce the financial cost for interested students. A donation has the ability to not only fund a trip but to change the trajectory of a student's life.
