Women's Tennis
The
Women’s Tennis program started in 1960, making it the third oldest sport for
women in Shippensburg University. For 13 seasons Shippensburg was one of the
dominant teams in the East. The Raiders, under coach Stan Line, were ranked
number one in the East and competed in the NCAA national championships in 1990
and 1991.
Throughout
the years, the Women’s Tennis program have won four PSAC Championships but has
not won a conference title since 1994. However last season, was the Raiders
best season in over a decade, winning multiple conference games and having an All-PSAC
honoree.
Ship
Women’s Tennis has enjoyed tremendous success academically. Women’s Tennis had
the highest GPA of Ship’s 18 varsity sports with a 3.573 average in Fall 2021
and 3.503 average in Spring 2022. This Fall, the Raiders were ranked fourth
with a 3.433 GPA.
Why does Tennis need my support?
Every
individual that supports our program will be an integral part of the team’s
success during the entire year. Every
dollar donated will continue to build our program and provide our current and future
student-athletes with the best possible SHIP experience that they can have. Your
donation will help build the program back to its winning ways and win another
PSAC Championship.
How will I make an impact?
Your
contribution will help keep Ship Women’s Tennis competitive at the PSAC and NCAA
levels by providing scholarship funds which aid in recruiting top level
student-athletes to Ship. In addition, your
donation aids in the purchase of equipment, supplies, and travel expenses which
occur outside of the normal operating budget.
Thank you for your support!
Our
athletic administration, coaching staff and student-athletes sincerely thank
you for your generosity as we strive to keep on building the Ship Women’s
Tennis program.
